5 Digital Strategies We Had on Repeat

Here’s our quick reminder of the five go-to digital marketing strategies most businesses are using: content marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) ads, social media, and email marketing

Content Marketing

  • What it is: Creating and sharing valuable, free material to attract and keep an audience.
  • How it works: Uses blogs, videos, e-books, and guides to build trust and authority instead of directly pitching a product.
  • What is does: It builds trust, shows off your expertise and keeps your brand top-of-mind.
  • Example: A fitness brand writes a blog titled: “5 Easy Meal Prep Ideas for Busy Weekdays” to attract health-conscious readers.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

  • What it is: Improving your website so it ranks higher in search engine results like Google.
  • How it works: Involves optimizing keywords, site speed, and mobile usability to earn free, organic traffic from people searching for your services.
  • What it does: It brings free, consistent traffic to your website from people already looking for what you offer.
  • Example: A local bakery optimizes its website with keywords like: best gluten-free bakery in Denver” so it pops up first when locals search for it.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

  • What it is: A paid model where you put ads on search engines or social networks and pay a fee only when someone clicks your ad.
  • How it works: Delivers fast visibility and targets specific user groups based on search terms or user demographics.
  • What it does: It buys immediate visibility and targets users who have a high intent to purchase.
  • Example: A shoe company pays for a Google Shopping Ad, so when someone searches “buy waterproof hiking boots,” their product appears at the very top of the page.

Social Media Marketing

  • What it is: Using platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Facebook to connect with your audience.
  • How it works: Builds brand awareness, shares company updates, and drives direct community engagement through text, images, and short videos.
  • What it does: It humanizes your brand, fosters a community and lets you interact directly with customers.
  • Example: A skincare brand posts behind-the-scenes TikTok video showing how their serum is made, replying to user questions in the comments.

Email Marketing

  • What it is: Sending targeted messages and newsletters straight to the inboxes of subscribers.
  • How it works: Nurtures existing leads, promotes sales, and builds long-term loyalty through personalized communication.
  • What it does: It nurtures leads, drives repeat sales and boasts one of the highest returns on investment (ROI).
  • Example: A local casino sends a “We miss you! Here is $25 in FREE Play to be used on your next visit” email to players who haven’t played for 60 days.

Choosing the right strategy depends on your goals, budget, and where your audience hangs out. Most successful businesses don’t choose just one; they mix and match a few that complement each other.
